MMT Company Spotlight: Mike Prikril

Music Mountain Theatre is a family activity for Mike Prikril. His wife and fellow company member, Jenn Hsiao, started performing with us back at the Open Air Theatre and over time his kids started to get involved as well, performing in Children’s Theatre shows as well as MainStage productions. After many years of watching his wife and kids perform, and getting to know all of the community of people who they performed with, his family finally convinced me to audition. Mike’s first show with MMT was Hairspray during our first season indoors, and he has been having a blast on our stage since!
By day he is an engineer for Johnson & Johnson. Outside of work, he is a “not-too-bad” sabre fencer, and every spring for the last 20 years he has built robots with high school students for a robotics competition.
Onstage, Mike has been performing with us since 2017, where his most meaningful experience was performing in the cast of The Laramie Project. Offstage, we call on Mike for assistance to build special pieces, such as our motorized windmill used in Oklahoma, and a power controlled system for motorizing our turn table. You also can find him as a volunteer usher, in concessions, assisting the front of house for our Children’s Theatre and MainStage shows, and as part of our Rocky Horror clean up crew!
When asked the best part about being involved at Music Mountain Theatre, Mike says it’s professionalism. “ It's a very short time to get a show ready, so nobody’s time is wasted. Once you walk in the building everybody is ready to work.” He also adds that his biggest takeaway from working at Music Mountain Theatre is that “It’s never too late to learn new things and try to improve yourself.”
While Mike still enjoys watching productions at MMT (his favorites so far being The Will Rogers Follies and our all-female production of Jesus Christ Superstar), we are so glad that his family was able to convince him to audition to join us onstage as well!
Be sure to come see Mike as Kevin Rosario in our current production of In the Heights playing through July 24, and keep an eye out for him during the rest of our 2022 season!

I wonder if Traffic Road is also fun and educational like this museum.
Mike’s transition from a supportive observer to a performer highlights how theater requires a perfect sense of timing and dedication to the craft. This rhythmic mastery is central to the FNF game, where the Boyfriend must hit every beat against diverse opponents to win the Girlfriend’s love and prove his talent.
Part of what makes the Dinosaur Game so addictive is its perfect blend of simplicity and challenge. There’s no setup, no menus, and no tutorial — just instant gameplay. It’s designed to be played in short bursts but hooks players into trying “just one more run.”
