Company Spotlight: LIBBY KANE

MMT Company Spotlight: Meet Libby Kane!

By day, Libby Kane is a client service coordinator for a 24-hour emergency and specialty pet hospital. By night, you can currently catch her as Mother Abbess in our production of the Sound of Music, playing on weekends through April 24th! We are so happy to have Libby as part of our resident company here at Music Mountain!

We first met Libby back in our days of playing in the park at Washington Crossing when she was cast in our production of Big! Since then, she was part of our very first show on the MMT stage, Phantom, and has been a part of over 20 productions on our mainstage! You may remember seeing her as Marion Paroo in The Music Man (her favorite role to date) or as Carrie Pepperidge in last season's Carousel, though she dreams of one day having the opportunity to play Mrs. Walker in Tommy.

When not on-stage at the theatre, Libby can be found teaching an occasional tap class at our theatre school, sometimes acting as musical director for shows, lending her hands to building sets, painting our stage, (she helped to paint when we were getting ready to open our new theatre), and even stepping in as stage manager for one weekend of performances.

Libby notes that being involved at MMT has definitely improved her acting and performing skills since it has afforded her so many opportunities to play varied characters. She enjoys the level of professionalism that is expected of our company members and the responsibility of creating characters. "The rehearsal process is amazing and so quick that it makes it possible for professional working people to be involved on a regular basis," she adds.

In her free time, Libby enjoys going to state and national parks with her husband, Steve, camping and hiking for miles and miles through beautiful scenery.

We are thrilled to have Libby as part of our community and company at Music Mountain Theatre. Be sure to look for her in more upcoming shows this season!
