MMT Company Spotlight: Meet Justin Derry
Justin got his start performing with Music Mountain Theatre as part of our ensemble in the 2019 production of Aida. Our current running production of Crazy for You marks his fourth season and 12th show with us on the MMT stage!
By day he works as an Oncology Infusion Room Nurse. Outside of work Justin is a big fan of Disney and Lego.
When not on our stage, Justin can sometimes be found volunteering as an usher and in our concessions stand, and has even been seen in the catwalk running spotlight on occasion!
We asked Justin what the best part about being involved at Music Mountain Theatre is, and he says it is the family atmosphere. “Everyone here is part of a family and I also love that everyone is dedicated and ready to work.” He also mentions that the biggest takeaway from working with us here at MMT is that “It always comes together, as long as we work hard!”
When asked initially his favorite production and role that he has played on the MMT Stage, Justin spoke of what an absolute great time he had playing Mitch Mahoney in the 25th Annual Putnam Spelling Bee. A bit earlier this season, however, Justin was called on to step in to the role of Roger DeBris for our final weekend performances of The Producers, so he notes that would now be his favorite role he has performed here to date. Justin’s favorite show that he has not been a part of at Music Mountain is A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder. He also dreams of one day playing the Genie in Aladdin.

Great spotlight on Justin! It is amazing how he balances his oncology nursing career while performing in 12 shows over four seasons. When I need a break from rehearsals, I enjoy looking up craft food recipes to plan my next cooking session.
