Company Spotlight: CHELSEA CONNELLY

MMT Company Spotlight: Meet Chelsea Connelly

Known around MMT as one half of "The Connelly sisters" because she is often joined on stage by her sister, Chelsea learned about Music Mountain Theatre back in our days in Washington Crossing park through her cousin Tommy. Tommy knew our artistic director (Louis Palena) from choreographing several shows at his high school. Tommy signed up to audition for our summer productions and invited Chelsea to come along. She joined us for her first production that summer, and then the next year took part in four separate shows and has never looked back!

Outside of performing with us at Music Mountain Theatre, Chelsea is am a STEM special and Gifted support teacher in Pennridge School District. She also lives her life waiting for the next Olympics and obsesses over the games when they are on, has a 3D printer that she loves designing things to print with it, and sometimes volunteers her time as an usher at our performances or Christmas Caroling through town with us! When asked what the best thing is about MMT, Chelsea responds that “The people at MMT are wonderful and they all have their heart in such the right place. There is something so exceptional about the community at MMT. Beautiful art is made there, but meanwhile, we all make amazing memories and close friendships that have been genuinely life-changing. I've never been able to fully explain MMT's magic to outsiders.” She adds, “Music Mountain has taught me so much about what it takes to make great theatre, but most of all, how to still put people first while doing so.” Chelsea’s favorite role to date at MMT has been playing Arista in Little Mermaid, mostly because she was way too happy gliding on stage in the heelys, with honorable mentions going to the part of Ali in Mama Mia!, and Cinderella's mom during In to the Woods. The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee is her favorite show she has seen at Music Mountain, and she dreams of one day playing Amalia in She Loves Me. We are so glad that Chelsea’s cousin brought her to audition for us back in 2014 and that she continues to join us on stage and as one of our resident company members this year. Be sure to come see Chelsea in our current running production of A Christmas Story, playing on weekends through November 20th!
