Company Spotlight: ALISON MCMULLEN

MMT Company Spotlight: Meet Alison McMullen!

Alison McMullen started performing with DPAC back in the open-air theatre about 8 years ago in our production of The Secret Garden. After that summer, Ali continued to join us as we transitioned to our new indoor home here at Music Mountain and has performed in every season since our opening.

When asked the best part about being involved at Music Mountain Theatre, Alison says it’s easily the community of people that has been created here. “ The people involved here, both on and off stage, are genuinely kind, supportive, and welcoming. It feels more like a family than a production company.” She also mentions that the biggest takeaway from working with us here at MMT is that “great quality productions don't necessarily take a long time to produce but they do require an environment where there is trust between the performers, and the staff, as well as a mutual sense of dedication." Adding that "MMT is a unique example of what can be created when everyone is working hard towards the same goal.”

It’s always tough for an actor to choose a favorite role, especially when every show is so different, but currently, Alison would tell you her favorite was playing Edwin Drood in last season’s The Mystery of Edwin Drood. She notes, “It was such a fun and challenging role both vocally and in the multiple hats that the character wears in the show. Plus, the cast and crew were such a caring, talented and hard-working group. The entire experience was such a pleasure.”

When not on our stage, Alison can often be found volunteering as an usher and in our concessions stand, and currently as one of our MMT Summer Camp teachers. “I love working with kids and watching them explore their talents and creativity as a team with their peers."

By day she is a Kindergarten teacher. Outside of work, she is our resident cupcake fairy, baking delicious cupcakes for birthday celebrants because she loves to bake! She also enjoys exercise such as running, swimming, and working out at the gym.

We are so happy to have Alison and her baked goods as part of our resident company, and are so glad she moved with us from the open air to our beautiful home here at MMT. You can currently see her as Patricia Fodor in our current production of Crazy for You running through August 21! Be sure to keep an eye out for Alison onstage and volunteering with the front of house staff as the 2022 season continues!
