College students, high school students and others are placed from time to time in unpaid internships. Each internship is individually designed to meet the educational goals of the candidate and the needs of Music Mountain Theatre. These are the areas where the interns will be utilized: Stage Management, Sound and Light Operators, Front of House, and Set Design/Construction.
Music Mountain Theatre, a new 250 seat performing arts venue coming to Route 179 in Lambertville, New Jersey, is seeking internship candidates for our inaugural season beginning September 2017. Our Internship Program provides opportunities to gain valuable hands-on learning and experience working in a large community theatre under the guidance of experienced theatre professionals.
January - April
September - December
Full time or part time will be considered. Schedules are negotiable but interns are usually expected to work at least 15-20 hours per week. All positions are unpaid. Interns can either volunteer or apply for academic credit whereby we will work with the college to accommodate academic requirements.
What’s in it for you:
Costuming - Assist the Costume Manager in the selection and/or creation of all costuming requirements for both Children’s Theatre and Main Stage shows. Basic sewing, fittings, alterations, pulling and restocking of costumes and accessories.
Set Design & Construction - Work with the director and other members of the design team to discuss set details and the Artistic Director’s vision to create a unified look for each production. Basic carpentry, electrical, painting. Assist with set build out and strike.
Stage Management - Assist the Stage Manager in pre-production, rehearsal and performances of Children’s Theatre and Main Stage productions. Duties include: assisting in rehearsals, maintaining paperwork, interacting with all involved through tech and run of the shows. Night and weekend hours are required.
Technical Sound & Lighting - Assist the Technical Director in all aspects of lighting and sound for productions. Maintain equipment. Troubleshoot problems. Run sound and light boards during tech rehearsals and performances. Night and weekend hours are required.
Front of House - Assist the General Manager, Box Office Manager and Volunteer Coordinator with the smooth operation of the lobby and the theatre before and during performances. Train and support volunteers in concessions and ushers. Ensure adequate number of programs are available. Conduct pre show walk-through of the lobby and seating area to verify house is clean and ready for audience. Respond to customer requests. Night and weekend hours are required.
